Hello AJ readers!

This week, we learned about two businesses opening in the same store front, a new restaurant opened, and Ollie’s confirmed the Lubbock location will open on Aug. 9.

On Monday, I spoke with Meredith Ratke, the owner of Torque Fashion and Caffeination Station, about the upcoming storefront. The trendy drinks and clothes will be sold at 5217 82nd St., Suite 215, which was previously an Einstein Bros. It is tentatively expected to open in September, but the article gives some details on what people can expect.

“We’re just super excited,” Ratke said. “I hope Lubbock is excited to have us, and we’re just very, very lucky that the Lubbock community has liked to welcome us with open arms.”

Ollie’s confirmed that they will open at 9 am Aug. 9, and released a flyer to show some of their deals. People can expect to find items at up to 70% off, and that includes products such as window A/C units, furniture and more.

Ken Chan Ramen, 4415 S. Loop 289, opened this week. The newest ramen restaurant in town offers “their signature broth (which) is created using three types of carefully curated artisanal ingredients and traditional tangy, milky and silky tonkotsu,” according to their website. Kung Fu Tea, a US Bubble Tea franchise, also opened this week at the corner of 82nd and Frankford.

Next week will be a busy one. At the moment, I’m expecting to meet with the owners of Lemon in Paradise, the spokesperson of Layne’s Chicken, learn more about the 114.Slide development and speak with the founder of a Texas-based chip company. Stay tuned for these articles and other business news.

As always, thank you for reading and supporting AJ.
